Low-income dental referrals are very hard to come by and are generally limited to extractions and infections. It’s easier to find in a metro area, much harder for those who live in more remote areas. Be prepared that this one may come out of the church fast offering fund. Use one of the resources below to keep the costs down.

  • Start by contacting the Dental Societies in your city, county, or state.
  • If you live near a dental college or a dental hygienist school, see what programs they offer.
  • Also check into the resources listed by United Way.
  • And then, google. +”low income” +dental +[your city or state]

Low-income people generally don’t understand the value of brushing, gargling, and flossing. Find a way to diplomatically educate on this topic and also show them how to use home-made solutions of baking soda or vinegar. Educate them on keeping their toothbrushes clean and let them know that it’s very easy to find free toothpaste and toothbrushes via the various dental societies or even the church foodbank or bishop’s storehouse.

God bless you, this is a tough one.
